Herb Schmidt spent 24 years at the Robert Mondavi Winery.
For the last 15 years he served as the Vice President of Public Affairs,
specializing in government and international relations. During his tenure
he was also Managing Director and on the board of Opus One, Public Relations
Manager and an officer of the company at Robert Mondavi.
He currently sits on the board of directors of varied wine and grape industry
organizations. They include WineAmerica, Family Winemakers of California,
The American Vineyard Foundation, Winegrowers of Napa County, and the
Federation of International Wine and Spirit companies.
He served as member of the Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee on Trade
during the Clinton Administration. Most recently was appointed to the
board of the Pierce's Disease/Glassywinged Sharpshooter Statewide Program
by the Secretary of Agriculture in the State of California. Herb Schmidt
is a founding partner of Wine Colleagues.
He currently is a Partner in Government Strategies, a public policy and
advocacy firm in Sacramento. His clients include wineries and growers.
